Named for the igneous rock formed from rapidly cooled magma, Lava Rock Twinkle flows across the page with a basaltic red that shifts to a shadowy iron ore in saturation on fountain pen friendly paper. Lava Rock is enriched by a finely dispersed golden shimmer shown like mineral crystallization along cooling fractures.

Twinkle Formula inks require additional pen maintenance and cleaning compared to their traditional ink peers. A medium point grade nib or larger is suggested to permit the pigment to travel from reservoir to page. We do not recommend pigmented inks in vintage pens. With all pigmented inks, we suggest using a pen that fully disassembles for complete and thorough cleaning.

Each 90mL volume will provide over 110 standard converter refills with an average 0.8mL draw. Rigid glass bottles arrive individually wrapped in cellulose wadding and prepared in a beautifully foiled gift box.

Formula Guide

We've compartmentalized our fountain pen ink recipes into four principal categories characterized by differentiating elements of the colorant component in the formula. A colorant is a dye or pigment that exhibits color. An ink vehicle is a series of chemicals used to transport colorant from storage reservoir to substrate (paper in our case).

Keystone Formula inks are engineered using water-soluble dyes to produce a broad spectrum of colors with a variety of unique and desirable writing properties. Fitting the bill for a traditional fountain pen ink, this series by far the most popular.

Delicate Formula inks are constructed with dyes selected for both performance and washability. Colors in this series will clean easily from most fabrics and surfaces with soap and water.

Everlasting Formula inks are compounded with pigmented colorants to produce highly water-resistant and archival properties on most papers.

Twinkle Formula inks are formulated using hybrid dye and pigment combinations to create a unique twinkling luster.

Twinkle Formula inks have a proxy recipe posted that won't be precisely identical since a bit of dilution doses with the pigment in Twinkle Sprinkle.
